The Greatest Film Quote - Jimmy Stewart in Harvey
If you've followed my blog for any great deal of time you might have some inclination to what my favorite quote is. From a movie I've mentioned a thousand times, and recommend to any of those who have never seen: Harvey.
But there's so many great quotes out there. So many ones that are cool, edgy, and supported by the masses. You may find yourself asking: What makes this quote so special?
The answer is simple: because out of all the quotes I've ever encountered, it's the one quote with the most real life application. Take your Godfathers, and cool, and go wherever you may. Jimmy Stewart's Elwood P. Dowd delivers the line forgotten by far too many. A true insight to a way of viewing the world we should all seek so desperately to attain.
A way of discussing things I feel the internet could use a little bit more of. These days of rapid fandom, growing opinions, and escalating forums finds people arguing (as debating is far from what is being done) over things of little to no value. People putting down the opinions of others under the belief of self absolutism. Disregarding others in favor of their own selfish desire to somehow gain a sense of "correct" in a world where that word possesses no meaning.
Why? Why argue with one another over what is simply a matter of perception? You can never win, and any effort to do so comes in the most vain of circumstance. Yet this exceeds well beyond the walls of blogging. It applies to every day life, where we constantly try to out wit, and shine one another.
Always trying to prove how "smart" we truly are.... and to never gain a thing from it. I know I keep saying this. I know you'll constantly rebuke me under the notion that arguing online is just what happens, and nothing can change that. Then again, to assume that is to reinforce that very thing.
But take some advise from Elwood P. Dowd. When faced with the choice between arguing, and letting opinion be. Remember, be pleasant. As I will guarantee you a microcosm of pleasant will take you farther than a mile of self-substantiated "smart."

but nothing will change if a need is never expressed nor noticed. One must care in a way that matters and should be smart,

I love everything about this movie and I'm glad you're spotlighting it. One of my favorite quotes of all time has always been "Well I've wrestled with reality for 35 years doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it." And your choice is excellent as well of course.
Whenever someone says "What can I do for you?" I'm so tempted to respond "Well what did you have in mind?"

Arguing is the fundamental inspiration for all brillaint ideas. A need to prove that they are not as stupid as the people arguing.

@Simon Thorough analysis, criticism, and the desire to understand is the fundamental inspiration for all brilliant ideas. Arguing is the side effect of a need to prove superiority.

I adore this movie, Jimmy Stewart, and the lovely adaptation of the play (which I actually was in many moons ago)
It's a crying awful shame they are remaking it. It's still so damn sweet and funny.
