Obligatory DVD Release Post 4/20/2010

Great Scott Robin there's a crap-load of DVD's coming out this week!

(who are you calling Robin? there's nobody here....)

MY GOD! There's nobody here!? Where did they all go? Moments ago I could have sworn... wait a second. *pulls back curtain*

BLUE SCREEN!!?!?!? DAMN YOU JAMES CAMERON!!!!!!!!!!!

New Releases:

Avatar: Technically coming out on Thursday (because they're apparently too good for tuesday - douches), this modestly successful *cough* film will reach into the world once more. Only to reach again in November with a monster set. Then next year sometime with a 3D version. Oh and probably a director's cut or two along the way. You know what, screw it. This DVD is pulling an LOTR and I'm not having it! That's right I'm not going to buy the Avatar DVD (*quick cancel the pre-order!*). My Review

Crazy Heart: You know what would make this movie better, a dash. That's right. Can you imagine it? Crazy-Heart! Why? Well, two reasons, 1) The movie is Crazy but lacks Heart, hence - Heart (if you don't understand buy a calculator) and 2) I have an obsession with dashes. Don't ask why, it's a me thing. The day I meet a Kurosawa, anime, and war film loving girl with a dash in her name, it'll be the wedding chapel for me I swear! :P. My review.

The Lovely Bones: Not even a well placed dash could save this jumble mess. It's the kind of film you watch and go "what the hell happened" (very subtle Steve McQueen reference, can you guess it?). It's as if all the talent involved just forgot how to put a solid effort together. Let's be honest we all saw Tucci's ashamed face as the Oscars. He deserved a nom, just for a better performance. My Review.

The Young Victoria: I have an admission to make, I'm a sucker for romances. But at the same time period romances seldom do it for me (too much clothing, not enough heart). Alas I was sucked in by this film, and will not make fun of it because it needs your views! One of the best movies you didn't see last year (and a multi-LiE award winner)! My Review.

Other Releases: Mammoth, The Horse Boy, Peacock, 44 Inch Chest, Deadly Impact, and Cheech & Chong's Hey Watch This

Other Goodies:

Nothing I know anything about. I'll leave you to your own commenting skills to let me know!

That's going to do it everybody. Remember, don't tip your waiter, it'll only go to their head.

Fuck you, Avatar.

I won't get Avatar until I get my ultra-pricey 3D TV, which by the time I do, they'd have already released the 10th boxed set!!

I'm with you about Young Victoria! It does have pretty costumes & all, but it's got a lot of heart as well. Accuracy be darned, that assassination attempt pulled my heartstrings!

I got The Blind Side from Netflix, it's new to me even though it was released a month ago. I have the Warner Brothers and Netflix deal to withhold renting any new releases for a month to thank for that. Somehow they think that's going to cause more people to buy the movie... how's that working out WB? Anyways Avatar doesn't release until late May for me. Oh well, I can wait. I got my Relic Hunter Season 1 from Canada today so there's my new release.

@Simon that's one way of putting it.

@Flix Haha yeah by the time we all get 3D they'll have 8D so might as well just wait it out a bit :).

@MVP Well, it must be working or they'd be looking to make a change... either that or they just don't care.

Ugh, Avatar mocker you!

For some reason I feel a sense of ...pride?...for being one of the few dozens who actually likes The Lovely Bones. And I'm still confused as to why exactly you like The Young Victoria....but it's not BAD you could do much worse (*cough* Dr. Parnassus).

Fuck Avatar! Yes, I said it.
Fuck Avatar for spawning this 3-D monster that I refuse to put up with (and pay more to experience) for a bullshit version of Ferngully. Whew, sorry, had to get that off my chest. Oh yeah, fuck The Blind Side too!

@Andrew Ah so that's why you like Lovely Bones, not for the actual movie, just your ego :P. It's ok, I know what I like, and I'm ok with that :).

@elgringo thanks for the kind words :P. I liked Avatar, and thought Blind Side was ok (despite it's ummm questionable approach). But I understand the point of view :)

Yes, "Young Victoria" is a period romance, but it is a period romance with EMILY BLUNT in it. That makes all the difference!
