The Monday Corner 07/18/2011

New Movies Watched This Past Week:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 - spent most of my week watching the other films.

Reminder - get your submissions in for The Greater Good Blogathon ASAP! The event will kick off this Sunday and I'd love to have my many fellow blogging buddies taking part!

For your Consideration:

Are you acting or are you merely doing an impression? Is there a difference? Sam of Film Intel thinks so, and makes a convincing argument for it! This is why I only ever do impressions of people acting out impressions...

Ah San Francisco, you've stolen hearts and scenes alike - FlixChatter wants to know what are some of your favorite scenes for the city which hosts the Golden Gate Bridge? Obviously, Homeward Bound 2 should be in the top spot for every list.

With 2011 more than halfway over, His Eyes Were Watching Movies takes the time to recap the best performances for men and women so far!

Cinematic Paradox takes an in depth look at the world of Schindler's List, its high and lows, and what lessons we can all learn from watching it.

Tarantino may be a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but to many of us the one thing he does without compare is create memorable characters. Which is probably why Kevyn Knox of Anomalous Material took the time to count down his top 10 favorite Tarantino creations!

Poll Update:
Resounding 'No' from you all - win one for the bloggers!

Results: Should a movie ever be critic proof?
1. 15 votes: No movie should (except Twilight because like, so, totally, yah know?)
2. (tie) 2 votes: Every movie should be critic proof (you're probably an art history major- admit it!) and I don't care as long as everyone agrees with me (well, at least you're honest about it)

New Poll: Got into a discussion last night about Deathly Hallows Oscar chances, so I want to know - what do you think?

Movie Soundtrack of the Week:
The trailer for The Thing remake/reboot/prequel (whatever) really got me pumped up for the original soundtrack for The Thing. So simple, but so sweet.

Have a great Monday everybody!
