I've got a couple of guest posts going up this week beginning with today so be sure you keep an eye out around the internet for me!
New Releases:
Megamind: Will Ferrell goes evil super-smurf? Sounds good in principle, but I have a strange feeling that no matter how good this all goes, it'll end poorly. However, I could go for the whole Brad Pitt superhero angle. Then again, I have this sneaking suspicion that this film will turn out to be another "bad guy goes good" episode which I think we've seen played out lately.
Get Low: I know there's absolutely no chance that in the middle of this film Robert Duvall will break down some killer dance moves to the latest Lil' Jon album, but I hold out hope. At last just enough hope to make me want to watch this film.
Due Date: Three years ago while none of us are watching = ideal. Any chance of getting that? To be honest I have no desire to see this one in the least. There's absolutely nothing appealing to me about this. Robert Downey Jr. is good, but this looks too dull. Zachie G is good enough by most standards, but he's been playing up the man-baby routine for too long. I think it's high time we got a new comedy routine. And no, the man-dude doesn't count.
Other Releases: Last Train Home, Room in Rome, Leaving, Mesrine: Killer Instinct: Part 1 (enough with the colons!)
Other Goodies:
48 Hours (blu-ray): Remember when Eddie Murphy was edgy, funny, and cool? Remember when Nic Nolte was known for more than a killer mugshot? Oh, what a walk down memory lane this is.
Memento (blu-ray): In my mind, far and wide the premier Nolton film. Why has he not worked with Guy Pearce again? Seriously, Pearce is dynamic in this (and everything) and I believe would make an amazing Batman villain.
Fish Tank (Criterion): Add another notch to the ever increasing list of Criterion films I haven't seen.
Sweet Smell of Success (Criterion): A great classic, oozing with style of Lancaster and Curtis. As MovieNut14 has likely informed you on multiple occasions - just go see it already.

Thanks for the shout out there, pal. And yes, I am going to be buying it.
A handful of good titles to be had this week! (Even DUE DATE, which gave me a chuckle last fall in the theatre).
I'd find it tricky to choose between MEMENTO, GET LOW and FISH TANK.
I don't mind seeing Due Date. As for Get Low, I'm slightly interested... but probably, it won't lead me to the dvd store, so no.
Saw that it was the tenth anniversary of Memento - great film!
I might give Get Low a shot. Due Date is uninteresting while Megamind surely doesn't come close to Toy Story 3 or How To Train Your Dragon among last year's crop of animations.
