Obligatory Weekend Movie Post #5

Hey, what are you doing here? What? You're reading this post!? You've never done it before... what's your angle? Oh... you want me to comment on your blog? Well... ok. Ugh, I'm way to easy to please :P.Stupid, bad, talking to myself humor!? That can only mean one thing!!! THAT'S RIGHT, it's time once again for your Obligatory Weekend Movie Post. The most you love to not read/comment the most, and it's one of my personal favorites. Face it, it's me, it's not you... I like you, I'm just not "in like" with you (whatever that means). Moving on!

Wide Releases:

Where the Wild Things Are:
Ever ask yourself what would happen if you put a kid in a forest with a bunch of socially flawed monsters? Well now you've finally got your answer. To be honest, I don't have any snide remarks for this film, I want it to be good, I want it to succeed, so I'll say this: It's a 10 on my desire scale, but a 5 on my possibility scale... damn you money!

The Stepfather:
If you go to your theater this weekend and see a bunch of people running out of the theater screaming, it's not because they saw a horror film... it's because they saw this, and want their money back in a hurry.

Law Abiding Citizen:
Ah Jamie Foxx, your movie choices are more confusing than high level physics. NASA scientists can't calculate why you pick these stupid action films, and I don't think there's anyone out there who really thinks this will evolve into something more than generic action... why else would it be released in the middle of October? As for Gerard Butler, he needs to calm down a bit, he's done more bad movies in the past few years than Uwe Boll.. and that's saying something.

Limited Releases:

Black Dynamite: A send up to the old film days of blaxpoitation, both spoofing and homaging those films. Be honest, the only reason you want to see this film is so you can use the line "jive turkey," admit it!!!

New York, I Love You: Do you prefer to walk around in obscure clothing, using words like existential in the wrong context while talking about your favorite artist? If so, this movie might just be for you.

I know this post wasn't exceptionally funny this week (as you mumble to yourself it's never funny)... I just don't feel very funny today *tear*. Perhaps I've lost my funny bone :(. It's all hopeless, just doom and destruction, pain and misery, You've Got Mail and Sex and the City.. it's an endless road! WHY GOD WHYYYYYYY!

Oh, wait... I don't believe in God... so ummm well, this is awkward. How about I buy you a coke?

The end.

This weekend appears to be much better for new movies. Last week sort of sucked. I'm most looking forward to Law Abiding Citizen, but I hope it's not a let-down.

Oh man, you are so lucky that Black Dynamite is opening - even if in limited release. It's one of the funniest movies I've seen all year and I often think back about scenes and lines from the film. It's a spectacularly good time!

I actually want to see New York I Love You. Because of Ethan Hawke really.

And I know what existential means. Ha!
