Coming to a TV Near You Tonight!
After my tuesday rant on how crappy the quality of TV was that night I've found solace in one of the great nights in TV, thursday. Why is it so good, heck if I know, but it's one of those nights where you got just about everything for everyone to watch. Oh yes, tonight has it all! Action, adventure, romance, cheesy drama, reasons to get on your couch, say heck with exercise, I'm starting my diet tomorrow!
Must Watch TV Shows:
Bones, 8pm Fox - First and foremost this show stars Emily Deschanel (who is just as fun and lovely as her younger sister, the goddess that is Zooey Deschanel). Second you have John Francis Daley (Freaks and Geeks) and David Boreanez (Buffy, Angel) who are both just pure fun to watch. Then you have Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan, the exec producers, and twitter masters, who both have such a maniacal sense of humor. Really there's nothing to love about this massive odd pairing, it just works so well.
Also at 8pm:
Vampire Dairies (CW) - For those who enjoy being unimpressed time and time again.
Survivor Samoa (CBS) - Never liked Survivor, never will, but if that's your thing go for it.
Flashforward (ABC) - Great commercials, definitely looks intriguing, I'll have to check it out later though.
Saturday Night Live (*gag*) and Parks and Recreation (NBC) - Not a fan of SNL since the 90's, and PnR just doesn't hit my funny bone.
Fringe, 9pm Fox - The fact that you're reading this, and by default possess the geek gene, and are not watching Fringe is perhaps a crime. Fringe is the ultimate geek centric show, for us by us, it's just all around great. Strong story, Leonard Nimoy cameos, and great acting with fun characters, get there or be... well somewhere else.
Also at 9pm:
Supernatural (CW) - I know this has a strong cult following, and I won't convince fans to not watch it, but I despise all things CW so I'll never recommend it.
The Office and Community (NBC) - I like The Office, but I've never been in love with it, I can go months without watching it and never really feel like I missed anything. Community had a fun premier, Joel Mchale and Chevy Chase are funny, but I'm not sure it'll have the legs for a long term run.
CSI (CBS) - People really just love this show, but I never have. It's a good cop show, but I don't care about the characters, and therefore I find it hard to make it a strong recommendation.
Grey's Anatomy (ABC) - Yeah yeah yeah, you've been waiting for it, haven't you! Admit it, well *sticks tongue out* Go watch your stupid Grey's Anatomy, just I hope you feel bad when Fringe gets canceled because you hate America!!! Doesn't make sense does it? Ah well, does it ever? :)
The Mentalist, 10pm CBS - If you're not watching the two hour Grey's Anatomy premier, because you're not a terrorist, you'll probably be watching this. Not much else on, Jay Leno's show is heading for cancelville, and all the cable networks are whipping out the rerun shtick.
Movies For Your Consideration:
8pm:
TCM - 3:10 to Yuma. Check out the original 1957 western classic starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.
HBO - Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Guillermo Del Toro + Ron Pearlman + Selma Blair, ah when geeks fantasies come true, fun film.
My Recommendation: Stick to network, you'll be better off unless there's something showing elsewhere you've never seen before.
Here endeth the lesson.
3 better thoughts:
I'm just looking forward to tomorrow and the return of Smallville! Clark loses the red and blue jacket and goes Matrix with a black trench coat and the signature "S" on his chest! Plus much more Lois this season.
You know you can rent the prior seasons of Supernatural and Smallville from Netflix and then you technically would not be watching or supporting the CW, that is if you wanted a work around!
In my heart I'd always know it was CW. I used to love Smallville, but after the 4th season I just got less and less interested, and eventually phased out of it all together.
Ha! Ha! I'm gonna look at my Grey's and I'm going to love it. Maybe you should take a gander at the first hour and judge it...again.
