Shut Up and Watch... New Year's Style

Upon the morrow a new year shall begin. Mostly because the calendar tells us so, but I hear there's some solid scientific evidence to support it (personally I believe it's all because of Nic Cage).

So, in an effort to save you the time deciding what films are worthy of your new year's viewing, I've gone ahead and made the collection for you. These are the five films you should watch to bring in the NEW YEAR!

5. When Harry Met Sally: For those in need of a cute romance with limited melodramatic undertones.

4. Forrest Gump: Down with the naysayers, what you need is Gump, Lt. Dan, and a couple of 'promiscuous' women to bring in the year in style (if you can sneak in a 'finding' jesus joke - all the better).

3. Trading Places: Never forget - even if you're incredibly good at your job and are living the American dream you should never trust old people with a George Washington fixation!

2. Holiday Inn: If you can think of a much better way to summarize a year in Holiday love better than with Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Virginia Dale, and Marjorie Reynolds then be my guest. However, I think you'll find you are quite mistaken!

1. The Apartment: Have I mentioned before that I love this movie? Have I mentioned before that I love the ending of this movie? One of the all-time top romances in my book, The Apartment is a sweet, heartfelt look at affairs and trials of misguided love.

ENJOY YOUR NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTIES EVERYBODY!

This is Univarn, over and out.

I kinda figured you would mention The Apartment considering the title of this post is a reference to the closing line.

Happy New Year!

How did you know that I planned to see The Apartment?
Great list, I'm going to retweet it.

Happy New Year!

Trading Places is a classic! Great list overall. And silly Univarn, EVERYTHING is because of Nicolas Cage.

When Harry Met Sally is perfect - best romantic comedy ever. And yes, I do watch them now and then.

The Lt. Dan New Year's party always weirded me out. "Don't call him stupid!"

I totally forgot about Forrest Gump. Good call.
