The Monday Corner 11/2/2009

Wahoo it's time once again for your MONDAY CORNER!!!! The best in linking, randomness, and ummm polling? Yeah, it's not that exciting, and last week you all ignored it, but alas I'm back again hoping to inspire some more commenting love :P.

For your Consideration:
You know a lot of you wrote about horror films this past week, no idea why... I guess you're all turning into dark anti-social types?

1001 Movies to See Before You Die club is just now kicking off, get in on the action before it's too late!

Bada Bing! takes a look at the highly popular indie film An Education.

Fletch over at Blog Cabins attempts to throw A Serious Man naming spin on all of the Coen brothers' films to date.

Common Sense Movie Reviews is all about Michael Jackson's This is It documentary, how do you feel?

Encore Entertainment's best pictures of 2008 breakdown comes in with Benjamin Button on top, what was yours?

Final Cut counts down their own favorite top 10 Horror Films.

Life of a Cinephile and Bibliophile takes a look at the always fun Corpse Bride.

The Dark of the Matinee tackles the incredibly popular indie film Paranormal Activity... I'm going to be the last person to see this movie :(.

Ok, not going to do too many links this week, trying to keep it simple.
Poll Update:
So, not a lot of Romero poll love, I suppose you all haven't seen many of his films. Oh well, it's ok, I love you all anyways.

Results:
1. Dawn of the Dead (5 votes)
2. Night of the Living Dead (2 votes)
3. Tie. All Others (0 votes)

New Poll: If you had to decide between the three top oscar nom+win actresses of all time who would you choose? Bette Davis, Meryl Streep, or Katharine Hepburn?

Random Stuff

- Did you know that if you take a monkey and put it in ring with a chicken the two will mate to create the monken? You should try it!

- You remember as a kid that stupid "what's black, white, and red all over" even today I'm convinced it's a Zebra in Texas during deer hunting season.

- Is there anything quite as annoying as people who join your blog/twitter only to promote themselves?

- With every passing Twilight trailer I die a little inside. I understand people want this film to be better but each trailer just looks worse and worse, almost makes me wish they would hire an acting coach. Michael Sheen is that movie's only hope of not being just awful.

So... yeah... not much in the way of funny again huh? Ugh, I'm sorry, got a lot on my mind... maybe next time? Don't count on it though, maybe if I stopped writing these on days when I'm trying to get my mind off of that sort of stuff it'll get better? No? Ah who cares, you know you love me on that wall! You know you need me on that wall! What wall? Oh yeah, you don't know about the wall. Ummm, this is awkward (again). High five?

@Mad *fail* There's no good excuse :P

Maybe I'll catch it, I just don't like going to the theater alone, and for it I would have to (Comp Sci major = too many anti-social friends).

OK, I must ask - mostly because I am the complete opposite:

Why don't you like going to a movie alone?

(Feel free to turn this question into a full-on post if you wish)

Well I usually find for movies like horror and comedies I enjoy them a lot more with a group. Something like There Will be Blood or Moon I want to go alone because I don't want any snide remarks or attempts at humor. Of course I tend to be very picky when it comes to comedies and horror films anyways so I try to give them as much of an edge as possible :)
