Patrick Swayze (August 18, 1952 - September 14, 2009)
It truly is a sad day in cinema, as the LA Times has reported the passing of actor Patrick Swayze today, at the age of 57 years old, after a long bout with cancer. Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Red Dawn, Point Break, Donnie Darko, and I know I don't need to go on, but we all know I could. Swayze encompassed a wide variety of characters, always under-appreciated, and often cast in films well below his talent level. This has marked another death in a very depressing year for fans of entertainment with Michael Jackson and Karl Malden both passing away earlier this year. Hopefully Swayze will always be remembered for the talent he put into every performance for many years to come.

57? I didn't know he was that old. RIP
