Inglourious Basterds Reclaims #1 Spot

It's been a very quiet week for the box office. After a strong showing from two horror films this weekend, followed up by great showings in Inglourious Basterds and District 9, the box office has tailed off heavily. Bad word of mouth has dragged The Final Destination and Halloween 2 through the mud throughout the week, both failing to perform over $2.5million each day of this week. By comparison neither IB nor District 9 fell below $3million throughout the week.

As of yesterday, IB has hopped back on top of TFD, not by much, but enough to show that Final Destination is making a slow crawl towards box office obscurity. Also struggling to stay above water Halloween 2 has fallen below the $1m mark, making $794k on Wednesday. This drop gave room for District 9 to regain the top 3 slot, with roughly $100,000 more than Halloween.

Every once in a while movie goers seem to get it right, and it would appear they are doing so once again. If this continues TFD and Halloween could both be looking at 60-70%+ drops this weekend, phasing out in a hurry if something doesn't change for them.
